HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Emphasis is on analog electronic design. Should have at least a BS in Electrical Engineering and have >5 years' experience in analog design. Familiar with using schematic capture tools and able to review PCB design layouts. Ability to take a product from specification through production. Able to prototype and do verification testing with good trouble shooting and problem solving skills. Experience in discrete design of communication/audio system (filter, PLL, modulation), hands-on experience of wireline technologies (ADSL, xDSL. PLC, Ethernet, etc.), and any familiarly with UL fire standards is a plus.

Candidate will be responsible for the design of Notification appliances from specification through production. Emphasis is on electronic design, project completion, engineering documentation, and product agency certification and includes:



· Analog Electronics Design

· Design Reviews

· Schematic capture using tools like OrCAD, Dx Designer, etc.

· PCB layout review using Gerber and PAD output files

· Proto-type testing and verification testing

· Documentation including: BOMs, schematics, tech writing information, component specifications, etc.

· Support the approval and certification process of notification products with certification labs (UL, FM, BRE, ANPI, etc.).

· Engineering design testing and verification

· Maintain design project on schedule and cost estimate targets

· Perform the necessary design control documentation per our engineering design control system

· Interface with Mechanical Engineering to provide mechanical requirements of the design

· Interface to component engineering providing electronic component requirements and specifications

· Ability to operate in highly motivated, high impact multi-functional team environment



EXPERIENCE:

· 5 or more years detail design experience in analog and mixed circuit design

· Experience in switch mode power-supplies

· High capability and creativity for analysis and problem solving

· Highly self-motivated hardware engineer with a results oriented, proven track record

· Experience in PCB schematic capture and PCB process methodology

· Experience in circuit simulation using tools like: uCAP, Workbench, PSpice, etc

· Experience in ESD and EMI design requirements and verification testing

· Experience in the field of system engineering – especially specification practice and design qualification techniques

· A good understanding of DFM/ Trouble Shooting/ Statistics/ Reliability techniques and project planning
