10 Structural Design Engineers - Savannah, GA

Description:
The Structural Design job is for placement on the Special Missions program. Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong competency in the following areas:
- Prior work experience in Savannah, GA with aircraft design and Special Missions green aircraft structural modifications preferred.
- Understanding of Airplane Structures and Service Histories
- Understanding of Design Requirements
- Among others, includes knowledge of the Part 25 Design and Construction regulations as well as design methods to increase product durability by preventing corrosion and fatigue.
- Understanding of Structural Behavior and Development of Good Load Paths.
- Understanding of Joints and Fastening.
- Understanding of Materials
- Knowledge of metallic structures required. Knowledge of composite structures preferred.
- Understanding of Manufacturing Capabilities - Focus on design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA).
- Understanding of Design Process - From requirements gathering and planning, layouts, design cycle, to workflow release.
- Required experience with 3D Model Based Definition (3D MBD) and the application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for details and assemblies. Proficiency in CATIA v5 workbenches: part design (machined parts), sheet metal, Fibersim, Composite Part Design (CPD), FT&A, Generative Drafting (2D Drawings). Proficiency in SmarTeam PLM database.

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Five (5) ys in specific technical discipline or 10 yrs broad eng experience in several technical disciplines with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs for PhD in fields applicable to this job.
